travel insurance

Hi All
Has anyone had any experience getting travel insurance after DCIS and if so, with whom? Theoretically we shouldn’t be excluded at all, but I didn’t want to spend a lot of time contacting insurance companies, if there was someone out there who could direct me appropriately.
thanks

Hi there,

I have DCIS and have tried three companies, all of whom do add a bit of a loading - about £8 for having DCIS. I decided to go with a company called Karma dot com, because they also insure you if your airline goes bust. I think they loaded my £8 or thereabouts. The other two were insure pink dot co.uk and getmy dot com. They all have a section especially for DCIS and don’t just lob you into the breast cancer categories. I tried all the others, but they were astronimical. Hope this helps

Hi there,

I’ve used Churchill twice and they didn’t appear to add anything on once the situation was explained to them,

Trudie.

Try using MIAONLINE - they came recommended from threads on this site and I’ve used them recently . I had invasive ductal / HER 2 grade 3.

Good luck

I used Tesco Insurance, They were very courteous and considerate in their questioning and, as I was in the middle of treatment, they said I would be exempt from anything related to breast cancer. This suited my needs and therefore the premium was much reduced. i have DCIS/invasive HER 2+ grade 3, have had 6 WLE and awaiting those results.

I’m with Directline - have just told them and like shelaghc, my bc was excluded - and I had lymph node involvment - I got the impression that it really wasn’t an issue to them - for which i’m grateful, as I getting quite worked up about it.

Hi Ladies
I travel quite a lot for work, and since my diagnosis it appears that I am not covered by my employers travel insurance for anything related to bc. However, they are using MIAonline to insure me per trip. They seem reasonably cheap and easy to set up - infact it took 10 minutes!

I am going to Cyprus in March and wanted an insurance that covered me for DCIS, not for treatment abroad but in case I had to cancel due to anything related to BC. I finally used Karma insurance which loaded me by about £13 for the DCIS but it means I can cancel and get a refund and if there is a problem whilst on holiday, I am covered also.
