Travel Insurance
Travel Insurance Hi there - I’m after some advice/help! Has anyone had any success with getting reasonably priced travel insurance post diagnosis and treatment?
Thanks for any advice…

Hi Hope
Try Marrs Insurance on 0870 920 2222 or www.marrs.co.uk. I have an annual policy (Europe) for hubby and I which cost £71. It also covers me for anything related to bc but I think you have to be at least 12 months post-treatment to qualify for this.
Hope this helps.

hi hopege I was told by my bc nurse that the post office do a good insurance. take care debbi
We have a annual policy which covers our family and i was worried that they may suddenly want a huge premium too. i gave them a call and they will still provide travel insurance but won’t cover me for anything related to the bc.
Think its just a case of shopping around and i also think it depends how long ago the diagnosis was etc… These companies work in strange ways sometimes.
I’d be intertested to know how you go on
Take care

Travel Insurance Hi Hope,
Like you I have been ringing around this last week for travel Insurance, hubby and I are hoping to go to thailand next month. I only finished rads middle of October and am taking tamoxifen, I have rung most of the Insurers given on this site and so far the best price I had has been from Debenhams I can only get a 17 day Insurance and they will cover the BC for an extra cost as I was only diagnosed 24th March 06 so am less than a year down the line, but they will cover myself, hubby and my BC for approx £136.00 if you would like to give them a ring their tele no is 0870 7744063 or you can go online at www.debenhams.com/personalfinance but it’s probably best to ring as you will have to answer their medical questions. Hope this is of help and wherever you go you have a great holiday

Bradford and Bingley Hi Hope,
I had a terrible time with a travel insurance company last year. We had a holiday booked for May, and I was diagnosed with BC in April, which meant we had to cancel.
Following chemo we planned another holiday to help us recover from a difficult few months. Since we had no confidence in our current policy ( no payout despite many phone calls and correspondence ), I rang round for quotes.
Only company who would quote were Bradford & Bingley. £75.00 for annual cover for my husband and I ( excluding BC ). Give them a try.
This was actually a recommendation from someone else on this site when I had the same problem as you. Most companies will not quote within 12 months of diagnosis.
Good luck and happy holiday.
Luv Pam
Travel Insurance Hi there
I have free travel insurance through my Barclays Bank Account. When I was diagnosed with bc I telephoned them to let them know as I was going to Cyprus in October last year.
It all went through OK - insurance for everything - broken limbs, etc, just that I wasn’t covered for breast cancer - which is what I expected anyhow.

Bradford and Bingley Have provided me with annual travel insurance, for anywhere in the world, for myself and my partner - total cost £130. This includes cover for anything breast cancer related. However, they would only cover me when I was 3 months clear of treatment (chemo / radio).
Still much better than the £800 one company quoted me for a single trip!!
Marrs will cover you if you are 3 months out of treatment. They didn’t even charge any extra and still covered breast cancer. I’ve got free insurance with lloydstsb. They said they wouldn’t cover bc because i was considered to be still having treatment because i’m taking tamoxifen. Apparrently they would have covered me if i wasn’t taking it, bit silly really as I be more likely to have a recurrence if i wasn’t taking it!

Goldfish Hi there,
I have had annual travel ins worldwide for years with Goldfish. I phoned them and told them about the situation and they didn’t appear to be bothered so long as I wasn’t travelling whilst having treatment as I wouldn’t be covered for that. They haven’t changed the policy. We pay £120 ish for a family of 4.
