TRAVEL INSURANCE

Essential Travel I used these 7 months after my chemo finished. I was g2 stage 2 and 2 pos nodes.
They insured family of 4 with bc cover plus diabetes cover for my hubby for under £40, for 2 weeks in Greece.

Have a look at this link insurance.essentialtravel.co.uk/

Fill in the form online and click on the option you want to buy - then there is a more detailed form - when it comes to pre existing conditions it gives a number to ring. Its worth a try - I was amazed as I had been quoted some silly prices by others!

Hope this helps some of you.

Bringing to top Someone was enquiring about travel insurance, so I’ve brought this back for info.

Another Travel Insurance Company Hello Denise

This info is probably too late for you, but I’ve just signed up and have spent the afternoon trawling thru all the chat forums?

My partner and I went to Cyprus last year whilst I was undergoing chemotheraphy. I used a company called Holiday Services (formerly ABC Travel) 01623 407 321 and we were both charged £34 for two weeks. The only proviso is that they just cover European countries and that if you need assistance you defer to the ‘NHS-equivalent’ hospitals first (but obviously you can go private if emergency!). Their rationale is that at the state hospitals are better equipped for detailing with ‘cancer-emergencies’ than private doctors for whom oncology is not often their area of specialism.

Hope this helps you and others somewhat, Morgan

Travel Insurance Try Marrs we had a quote of them which was quite good! JanetS

Marrs I had a quote from Marrs about a month ago. It was £43.60 for one week in Europe but it excluded breast cancer (I am nearly 5 months out of treatment but am on Herceptin)

I was advised to try again nearer the date I was going as it was possible that I would get a better quote

I phoned their helpline to do the Health screen and was told that because of the high volume of calls they would phone me back which they did’nt. I phoned again yesterday morning and was told the same thing, I explained that I had been told this the day before but no one had phoned me back. They said they would mark it urgent and that I would definitely get a call back. I waited till 4pm with no call, so rang again and guess what? yet again, I got the ‘because of the high volume of calls could they take my no and call me back’ When I complained, I was met with silence!!

I have phoned Marrs and told them about it, they were extremely apologetic but have no control over the health screening. So guess I will have to go elsewhere

Think I will try Holiday Services that Morgan mentioned…fingers crossed

Bringing to top Some people enquirying on holiday insurance elsewhere, so bringing this back again.

Happy Travelling.

Another Insurance Company worth trying! Hello all

Morgan here - I responded to this post earlier, but wanted to let you all know of another insurance company I found - which gives you the same benefits as most of the larger insurers but not at a high cost.

The one I used last year to Cyprus (when having chemo - charged £34.00) and was ABC Travel/Holiday services (see original posting for phone number). This year now that I am post chemo (4 months) and post radio (6 weeks), I thought I’d try a few of the specialist insurers just to see what the cost was - still high £500 for Freedom! I used “www.itssoeasytravelinsurance.com”, and for 24 days cover to more than one European country for myself and partner was £75.00. As with ABC people, questions are asked on an ‘individual basis’. there is no computer programme deciding if positive ymph node equates to a ‘spread’ but a nurse calls you and runs thru your diagnosis, dates and treatment.

So that’s two I’ve used which are very reasonable.

Incidentally, when I queried one of the specialists and actually spoke wtih one of the call centre managers she was shocked how ‘cheap’ other insurers - but I have checked the benefit cover and they are all within the same parameters. Further, I asked her to at least feed back to the underwriters/medics that they should not set themselves up as a ‘specialist insurer for pre-existing medical conditions’, if they do not treat you as a indiviidual case and rely on a computer programme to determine your risk.

Please excuse the rushed email but wanted you all to have some alternatives to at least try!

All best, xxx
