Travelling on a plane with a prothesis

Hi.

I am new to this site and wondered if anyone else has any information on wearing a prothesis on a plane as I will be travelling to Fuerteventura in November.  I had a MX with full AX removed in July 2012.  As this is my first holiday abroad since being dx I am sure I read somewhere that wearing a prothesis can set of the security alarms.  I’m probably being paranoid but any advice would be appreciated.  I would also like to know whether I should use Deet or similar during the day as well as suncream.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi

I’m 2 years ahead of you and have been to Majorca twice now.  i had the same thoughts but it was no problem at all.  i took a softie to use when swimming and made sure i rinsed it out thoroughly after each use.

also, i just used my normal sun cream but took asda one a day anti histamine tablets and usual bite cream just in case.  all went well.

enjoy ur well deserved break  x

Hi there - I’m 2 and a half years post diagnosis and have just returned home from a week in Salou.  I was wondering about going through customs but had absolutely no problems at all.  I also took my swimming prosthesis with me but ended up not bothering to use it - my swimming cossie was quite built up so I don’t think many people noticed.

have a wonderful time
