hi i have learnt a lot through this site thank you to everyone. i would just like to pass on that everyone can have treatment at home at no extra cost. i have fought for it and got it for my herceptin. i just wished i knew about it when i was having chemo as i only did 4 out of my 6 as i was so sick but i do believe a lot of it is my fear of hospitals and people i dont know etc. i just want to pass this on to everyone so if anyone is a wimp like me there is a way round it and on nhs. thanks again everyone
That’s brilliant Jal7777,
you certainly are no wimp managing to win that,i wouldn’t have even thought that it was possible.
I hate chemo with a vengance,i’m just post 4 FEC myself at the moment and can’t even bear saying the name chemotherapy. It wouldn’t work for me as i would want to leave it at the hospital door,to have it come into my home for me would be a constant reminder,i don’t even like looking at the clothes i’ve worn on the day of chemo.
But for a lot of ladies what you have highlighted and won is brilliant and well done.
Tracey
thank you. i realise its not everyones cup of t. some survive on meeting and chatting me i like to curl up in private and then use this site for chatting. i was the first person to get it from my two hospitals so an achievment and hopefully make it a lot easier for others.
Well done Jal. I was offered herceptin at home, but declined. My home is my sanctuary, and so I didn’t want any procedures to impinge on that. But I can see that many people would find this an attractive option.
One of the reasons they offer Herceptin at home to patients in my area is because the nearest hospital licensed to give it is a 50 mile round trip away. I was glad to have it at home so I didn’t have to do the trip every 3 weeks; it also meant I could have it done at 10 am, then get on with my day as we run our business from home. The hospital told me they prefer it this way as they have so many new patients to deal with it frees up the chemo ward. They did say however, that they prefer patients experiencing vein problems to attend the hospital.
