Hello everyone,
I’m posting for my partner and would warmly welcome any replies based on your experience.
She is ER and PR + and HER- Primary in 2009, sec in 2012, first in bone. Resistant to chemo, responded well to e/e but this stopped working after 15 months.
Her tumours in her liver have been growing since scan found them in April.
Initially suggested faslodex but with a recommendation for it to be monitored closely and impression by oncs of not much hope in it. In that light she opted for a trial. Cancer has continued to grow in the 4 weeks of the trial. A scan is planned for tomorrow. She may then have to come off the trial. Oncologist is saying her liver may be too damaged to cope with chemo. Alternative is no treatment.
Has anyone facted a similar situation?

Hi,so sorry that your partner has had progression.
Are the tumors still ER+ ? As like mine they can change.Has your onc suggested going back onto an original hormone treatment. A lady on here did go back onto a treatment that worked a few years ago. Has she tried the oral chemo Cape…(not sure of spelling) it’s supposed to be less severe .
So sorry I haven’t got anything to help.Sending you both huge hugs,Helen xxxxxxxx
Hi don’t really know what to say, other than maybe a second opinion but you may have already done this. Hope hope hope there maybe something to try xxx
Thank you for your replies. In response to questions about previous treatment, my partner has had several chemos - two with the primary in 2009, then since the mets diagnosed in January 2012, has had docetaxel and capecitibine. Both had only a brief impact. The most successful treatment was e/e. This initially wiped out all sign of disease but when it returned after 14 or 15 months it did with a bang, with multiple bone mets but also liver tumours. This was diagnosed in a scan in early April. She is now on the PDL1 antibody trial, and it is unclear if it is having an impact. Side effects are significant (mainly fatigue and digestive problems) but are complicated by the actual cancer’s effect on the liver function.
