Hi - It is such a horrid disease!! My Best Friend died of bc a year before my diagnosis. I do wish we could have done bc together!! So - thank you everyone for doing it with me!!! (Even if none of us would ever have chosen to do this!!)

just a quick hello + update from me…
Had chemo tday, bloods fine. Onc said I’m fine to delay next chemo to go away so we are delighted 
Hubby has booked it this aft so we are off to Tenerife next wkend…
Next chemo 14th feb then scans at the end of that cycle. Scary stuff. Hair started shedding at the weekend- thought I had escaped it once I passed the 3week mark but apparently not. Loss is mainly when washing so I’m hoping it will just gradually thin. Watch this space…
Wendy- hope your appt went ok yesterday + you have a new treatment plan in place. Been thinking about you x

Hurrah for holidays and weekends. Well done all you positive ones.
Wish I felt positive tonight. I’ve just been feeling really rubbish for the last two days for no apparent reason. I have a friend who seems to get upset when I can’t explain how I feel. i.e. not tired, not depressed, not sick, no pain (well controlled) but just crap. Once again I wish there was a word for that feeling when you just feel awful. It must be a cancer thing as I never experienced it before. Maybe bring back the old fashioned word “malaise”.
Dragging myself to work tomorrow. I’m still having to work part time as I have no insurances to fall back on and am the only wage earner in the family. It is tough, but sometimes when I get there I am glad to have the distraction. So am trying to keep a positive spin on that. I’ll definitely bring the walking stick tomorrow so that I get a seat on the undergroud…

Tina - Im sooooo delighted you can get your break. Have you got a line in or is swimming on the menu too? Just some warm sun would be wonderful. Hope your hair sticks arround too!! These scans come round quickly - ive got mine on monday! Scanxiety here we come!!
Jo / Tara - Oh work sounds so hard for you and such a shame to use all you spoons up for work (look at the spoons thread if you think ive gone slightly mad!!) Hope you get that seat and do not have to use your walking stick to prize someone off it!! Lots of hugs to you and do hope your ‘malaise’ goes away very very soon!

I wish there are some normal things I could get away with not doing! I feel like I want to spend my days doing cool stuff - but the tax return, washing, house tidying still needs to be done! Ive waited arround to see if the tax return fairy, washing fairy or house tidying fairy will visit - but they dont! So, I guess it is down to me then!! Ho hum!!

I hope the scan shows a good result Sadie and you don’t need to wait too long for result. Let’s pray we both get some time off after carbo. I’ve one more carbo gem to go and glad when finished as get bad liver pain 10 days of every cycle and not much seems to control it.
I think you are doing amazingly well Jo to get to work as just dont think I could now and Ill health come through. I miss working as used to love my job. I am lucky that we aren’t reliant on my income.

Great news about your holidays Tina, it sounds totally fabulous! So jealous.
Jo/Tara, I’m amazed that you’re able to work through this? I honestly don’t know how you do it? It sounds awful, I wonder what sort of country we live in when someone in our position still has to get work? I hope you get your seat on the underground at the very least.
I’ve just heard that they are going to genetically test me, so I’ve got an appointment for the 6 February.
My new chemo starts next Wednesday, so I’ll let you know how I get on. Still no news on the lung drains as yet.

I’m feeling a bit grotty prob due to lack of sleep. Hair seems to be shedding a bit more fiercely now + I’m just about to wash it so I’m a little nervous! I’ll go mad if it deserts me b4 we go away 
Sorry if this is tmi but does anyone else find they are never off the loo these days?! I need to go after anything I eat- it can be 4 or 5 times a day! God knows how I’m so overweight! Think I’ll mention to onc at next appt as it’s defo become more of an issue in the last week or so…

tina i have the opposite problem i dont go enough just the odd concrete block even with loads of laxatives.
i havent lost all my hair although have lost most but still have a wee fringe… hope yours hangs on at least till your hols… have they said you are likely to lose it all?
wendy good luck with your new chemo on wed and your genetic appointment… is it for the BC genes or for the prostate trial?

hi all hope y enjoying the week end im a lot better now got over my cold and chest inf im not doing to bad on xeloda no real se apart from bad belly on last night of tabs im off to hos tue for next lot so hoping as gd as first. tina ive always had upset bellys on chemo basically live on loo but dont suffer get some tabs they can help gd luck everyone who as scans this week and treatment tc all laura x

Im OK!! Ive got scans later today and results next monday. I do feel ok - but every ache or pain makes me worry. I know we are all the same so I will not go on about it! I had a bit of a melt down yesterday. My Tax liability came through which I just cant pay. It was for the period when I was working a bit between Primary and Secondary diagnosis. I am thinking of selling the car and looking at a Motability plan (as I get higher rate DLA). Anyone else done this? I could then pay the tax and still have a car. Im also feeling guilty as booked a holiday (before tax bill) for Feb 1/2 term (Sweeden - Ice Hotel - should sort out the hot flushes!!!) I want to still do stuff whilst I am well enough - but it is costing a lot!! Anyway - hugs to all and thx for all your hugs. I need of a few today.

Sadie- BEST of luck for today Im sure all will be well + the carbo will still be doing it’s stuff. How many have u had now? Sorry about the tax bill I’m awaiting one too after receiving a statement a couple of months back saying I owed about £700. I’m not stressing about it as Im not planning on forking out for it. They can have a fiver a week if they insist on getting the cash back! Maybe suggest something similar on the basis of your situation + living on benefts? Please don’t feel guilty about wanting to enjoy life. And think carefully about the mobility car as you will lose £50 per week of your dla money. Big ((hugs)) xx

I’m currently in hospital, been here since last nte. Feel ok but have been having a frequent irregular heartbeat for the last wk + also severe attacks of chest pain. The chest pains were bad Saturday eve + I couldn’t ignore them when they happened again last night. I’ve had allsorts of tests- they’re looking at blood clots and even the poss of a heart attack (!!). I’m not worried it’s something quite so serious but I am worried about our trip abroad at the weekend. Please keep everything crossed 4me girls- will keep you posted…

Tina, sorry to hear you’ve been taken into hospital. I’m sending you positive vibes that they get to the bottom of the problem and you’re out and off on your hols as planned.
Sandra, good luck with you chemo on Thurs. I’ve only had 2 bone scans, one at diagnosis and one recently because of high calcium levels in my blood. I’d felt ok but unfortunately they’ve found it has spread to my bones now. Strangely, since I found this out I’ve really suffered with bone pain!
Sadie, good luck for the scans and results. I’m sure carbo will be doing the trick for you, it is such hard work though isn’t it? I’m sorry to hear about your tax bill, that’s just pants. If you haven’t got it, how can you pay it, under the circumstances? It’s just more rubbish you really could do without.
The Ice Hotel does sound like an ideal solution to the hot flushes. I think your Dr may well have prescribed had you not alrady booked!
I’m really nervous about Wednesday. I thought I was avoiding the canulas with having vinorelbine orally, but they’re also giving me Zometa for the bone mets now and that’s an infusion. Back to the lorazepam for me!

Hope scan results promising sadie next week. Can you not pay back tax at tiny amount per week. I had a McMillan coordinator I think she was called who got the DL forms etc for me and seemed to sort money things - maybe they can help.
I’ve never had bone scan as my onc sees little point just CT every 3 months. I’ve had MRI spine when bones hurting
Which gave detail of spinal blighters. I have zometa every 3 weeks and get aching in bones few days but just take paracetamol.
Hope everyone else doing ok in this cold weather. We want to go away half term but I get so nervous about booking and find I just struggle with 4 kids and my husband and I as get so exhausted.
