trivial question??

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if underarm hair grows back after rads? Just a little curious x

mine has but its very very slow and im a few months out of rads and only have a dark shadow. I would be pleased for it not to grow back lol…

thank you hatty, I too, would be very happy with no regrowth x x

Mine hasn’t. Just a few wisps that are hardly noticeable. Shame about my legs though.

hi, I thought I read somewhere that it doesn’t come back but have read so much could be muddled, easy these days!! cadi know how you feel x x

It possibly depends how hursuit or otherwise you were before they nuked you, and exactly where your scar runs relative to hair growth. Being a ‘daughter of Esau’ (hairy) I have a line across my armpit where my scar is along which no hair grows - this was the nuking target. However outwith that it grows quite as cheerfully as it ever did.

My head hair is great, and my leg hair grows a lot slower and finer than before chemo though, even though my eyebrows remain rubbish - grateful for small mercies!

RevCat you mad me laugh, I am also a daughter of the Esau therefore I am grateful that I now only have a small patch at the top of my armpit, looks a bit odd, but it would be great if I remained hair free. xx

mine aint grown back … 12 monthe post rads …just a few little whisps

angiem, but hope you don’t mind me asking is that the whole of your armpit? I have a tuft left at the top and am around 3 months post rads and I have one yes one straggly hair right beside my scar yuk xx

My Body Hair is RAGING, it’s coming back with a vengeance! All of a sudden it’s like “WOAH, BEST GET THE RAZORS OUT OF STORAGE”. Underarm hair, leg hair and, you know, the Lady Desert is now going tropical.
On one hand it made me happy because it means my body is recovering from the ravaging it got with poisons.
On the other hand, have to shave all the time again, b*gger.

Head hair - Now been since start of July since I shaved my head and I think another 2 months and I should have enough coverage for no scalp to show through and it look less like obvious cancer hair grow back.
But in 2 months, using Alpecin shampoo and lotion, I’ve got a fair coverage, it’s just not lying flat yet, looks like I’ve had my finger stuck in a plug socket

I know just what you mean about finger in socket- me too.
Like a grey scared baby owl with black undertones.

Lots of curls -I used to have straight brown hair going grey at the edges. Have had a fringe for the last fifty years I’m now struggling to cope with the sight of my forehead being on permanent display. Looking forward to the day when I have a fringe again.

hey just wanna check with u guys anyone had radiation to brain, mine is going to start in the next couple of weeks.

Hi bestfriend05,

Hopefully someone will come along soon and be able to help you xx

My rads were only on my breasts so the underarm hair did grow back… It took a long time though… I think I didn’t need to shave for 6 months after Chemo, but then it came back just as thick and fast as it did pre treatment.

Best friend afraid iv not had brain rads either… Good luck with that.

Lx

hi Katytc
I’m nearly 6years clear and still only have half an armpit of hair on Rads side.
Happy days
Chinook
P.S. I don’t have any of those little hairs on nipple on Rads side either.
