Hi
Haven’t posted in a while - DCIS high grade diagnosis followed by 3 surgeries to get clear margins and a course of radiotherapy. Tamoxifen for just coming up to a year now.
Just had my first annual MRI and got a call 10 days later to say there was an area of concern and they wanted me back the next morning for an ultrasound. Had the ultrasound and consultant said same thing (area of concern) and switched to biopsy.
Now a 2-3 week wait for results and I’m trying really hard not to let it but all the fear and anxiety feels like it’s flooding back. I’m clenching my jaw in my sleep (when I get any!) and giving myself awful headaches, feel sick, upset tummy etc.
I know there’s nothing to do but wait ![]()
I have nothing helpful to say no useful quote, just wanted to reply to let you know someone is thinking of you andvsending you a hug.
I find this whole thing is rreated so different in the areas we live, some have mri’s some dont for example.
I can only imagine the feeling of the words area of concern.
You do what it is you need in this wait time be still be active whatever it is.
Let us know how you get on.
Be kind yourself x
Thank you.
I was told I am down to have a yearly MRI instead of the normal yearly mammogram due to my age and the fact the DCIS wasn’t picked up by the mammogram or ultrasound originally.
Waiting is so awful. Sending hugs ![]()
Dear angharad, my heart goes out to you, the waiting time is endless, we are all here with love and support for you.
Take one day at a time at the moment, nice walk in the park, anything to help time pass for you (all very easy for me to say) your breast cancer nurse should be there for you to reassure you if thing get to difficult, don’t hesitate to call her and let her know how your feeling.
Wishing you well going forward.
With the biggest hugs Tili ![]()

So the biopsy results showed it was another new area of DCIS that showed up on MRI in a new quadrant to before.
As I’ve already had 3 lumpectomies and a course of radiotherapy my surgeon has said I now need to have a single mastectomy.
Am gutted.
So sorry to hear your news just wanted to come on and say mastectomy is not as traumatic as you may think, I’m two weeks post op and have recovered so quick and am really happy with the results so far I had immediate reconstruction with expander implant, this whole journey is a s@&t show for all of us isn’t it but you will get there! Big hugs xx
