TUMMY DRAIN

Hi Ladies

Well i went for my third chemo last Tuesday of Cisplatin/Gemzar, and i had looked about 7 month pregnant since my 2nd chemo so onc felt my tummy and referred me to outpatients for a tummy drain, this took about two hours and they drained off 13 litres of fluid from my abdomen, he said this procedure was common for people with Liver Mets,
i have too say the fluid in the abdomen is the most uncomftable feeling not only do you look heavily pregnant it makes you so tired as the nurse said i was carrying around an extra 13lb in weight.

Has anyone else out there been through this procedure ?

Hi Tracey,

Sorry I can’t help you as I haven’t been through this procedure but was really interested in your post. I have had 3 lots of Taxotere (4th tomorrow) and can’t believe how big my tummy has got…I have always had a bit of a tummy but can’t do most of my clothes up now…could be excessive snacking…but not completely convinced so was very interested in your post.

Hope you are feeling better now it has been drained and good luck with the rest of your chemo.

Dear Tracey (and sister Louise) I saw Louise’s message on the US bc.org mets forum…I just wanted to say I was thinking of you…I hope you are as pain free as possible, with much LOVE, Belinda…xx

Likewise, I saw the messages on the US boards and would like to add my best wishes and sincere hope that things improve for you.
