Hi
Sorry you’ve had no replies. I’m not sure I can help as I had a full mastectomy and currently am struggling with ‘post-surgery bras’ that feel like fortresses to a small-boobed person like me. However, my breast-care nurse told me the other day about sewing prosthesis pockets into my usual bras and said underwired is fine. I’m still sore from radiotherapy so I’ve not yet tried it but I shall. Big bras just aren’t me but I shall need some anchorage! Why not just give it a go and see? I can’t envisage what harm it could do.
Yes, I’ve donated all mine as not only did the boning press against my scars, but the lovely lace itched madly. Sat and cried! ? M&S cotton bras just don’t have the same va va voom. My BC nurse just said to wait until scars had healed, but she did warn me that the chemo and rads would sensitise the skin, and she was dead right in my case.
Hoping you have better luck. X
Hi there I’m just over 2 years on from diagnosis & lumpectomy & other treatment. I thought I could try wired bras again recently but they do dig in to where my scar is. It’s difficult to find nice non wired bras but I have had some from M & S & Belle lingerie & 1 fantasie bra. I’ve also seen a co called Miss Mary of Sweden on Facebook but they look expensive. I think it just depends how comfortable you feel whether you can wear wired ones again or not & where your scar is. It would be good if a company could come up with more pretty non wired bras!
Hope that helps all the best
Hi Thurnefi.
I’m 5 years along the road and still can’t manage wires as my scar tissue and nerve damage makes it just too uncomfy. I have non wired bras from M&S, John Lewis, Miss Mary and Lepel (the prettiest but maybe not secure enough if you need more support). It depends where your scar tissue lies and whether the wire presses onto it. I’ve found that the fitters at my nearest M&S & John Lewis have been very helpful. Both say wires are not for me and have given good suggestions for alternatives - after all, they see a greater variety of scar tissue than I do!
My thought is: have you tried non wired sport bras - maybe a bit too utilitarian but I found they do give good support.
Good luck with the search. SmallPickles xxx
