Unofficially diagnosed today (before biopsy results)

I’m determined to doy best to find whatever positives I can over the coming months, I want to come out of this stronger and more level headed than when I went in. Negative thinking will not help one little bit, but positive thoughts can change everything. This is how I really hope I can deal with this. It’s not easy at all, but the support is already evident on forums such as this xxx

Hi Jencat (cool name, obvs)

It’s such a life-changer, we need to remember that any emotion we feel at any time is normal. There are ups and downs galore in my head right now. I’m appreciating the ups and enduring the downs, knowing that they will pass. Important thing is to remember is that treatment is plentiful and we will have the best support in that respect xx

Hi Grogcat
Things kind of got easier for me as soon as I got my treatment plan. We all go through the pain and rollercoaster of being diagnosed and waiting for results which I felt is the worst bit but then when we get our plan at least we know whats in stote and can start preparing. It is difficult but there are plenty on here supporting each other and the CCs are amazing. I don’t know what I would’ve done without this forum and I’m not even going to think of it as we are all here supporting each other and we understand!!! People who havent gone through this and say ’ I understand how you are feeling!’ gets right up my nose because no you dont understand, you cant unless youve had it! It sounds harsh but its true.xx

Hi Grogcat Lisa, my cancer os also grade 2, her2+ and ER +. I am also going to have chemo, herceptin and permuzetab and a masectomy at the end of the treatment. All a bit scary but going to get the best treatment available. I have not got lymph node involvement. I have a son aged 13 and boy and girl twins aged 12. We have told them and been positive with them. They know that the treatment will make me poorly and bald! I will let you know how my onc apt goes on wed. Keep coming on here as the support, guidance, encouragement and reassurance you wil receive will be invaluable. Sending you a big hug xx

I know just what you mean Grogcat. Not something we want in comm9n but good to know at the same time. I have been to try a wig today and got oncology appointment tomorrow so moving forward. Hope you are feeling ok xx

Hi Ali and Grogcat…I to have been diagnosed with Stage 1 Grade 3 Er and HER2 positive,I was told I’m having chemo 1st then lumpectomy? I’m seeing my sergeon Friday as I was having op 1st but now he wants to start chemo 1st! My lump was 3cm and 1 lymph node affected x

Hi Sam. I have lymph node involvement but no idea to what extent yet. I have an MRI scan next Monday followed by a vac biopsy on the Tuesday. Lisa x

Hi Sam. Originally i was to have surgery forst then chemo but due to the her2+ my consultant said the best results were achieved with chemo first, plus herceptin and permuzetab (to block proteins) and then surgery after treatment is finished. I will then have horm9ne tablets for 5 years. I am due to start chemo next week xx

I’ve got my appointment with oncologist 26th September can’t wait now to be honest as it’s been a very long 3weeks since finding the lump! I only know I have 1 lymph node affected due to when I had ultrasound and biopsy x

Am having my surgery in the morning ! Stage 1 grade 3 .have no idea what my her2 status is yet and also still have no idea how long the gene testing will take ,does anyone have any have a rough timeline ? Thanks

Mine took about 12days after biopsy before I found out about HER2 and ER still not sure what they mean lol will ask when I see my doc Friday! Good luck with ur Op xx

Sack all the best got op tomorrow x

Hope all goes well tomorrow Sask. My lumpectomy is booked for Thursday, I also don’t know my HER2 status yet & will have to wait for results 2 weeks after surgery. X hope you manage to sleep okay tonight.

Best wishes for a successful lumpectomy tomo Sask.xx

Sask hope your op went okay and you are not too uncomfortable xx

Hey this it what my nurse said today on the phone what my cancer is Invasive ductal carcinoma Grade 3 but Stage 1 HER2 positive…very worrying even though she did say it’s a common cancer for younger women,I’m still very scared can this be cured? I’m only 34 seeing oncologist 26th September and need a heart scan x

Hey Sam. Mine is invasive ductal carcinoma grade 2 her2+ with lymph node involvement. 11mm tumour with 90mm possible malignant calcification surrounding it. Don’t know stage yet. It all sounds very scary but I bloody well hope it can be cured!!! I’m 41. Lisa x

Hi ladies I have never questioned wether bc is curable to me it is a health glitch that has to be dealt with x my consultant is brutally honest but in a positive good way and he has never said otherwise I do believe if there was any doubt most consultants would say so I can not comment on her pos as mine is neg but I has a 47mm tumour with lymph node involvement (have had lumpectomy op then a 2nd op for axillary clearance) my consultant said I am cancer free from surgery but need chemo and rads to ensure it’s well and truly hone. If in doubt ask the question to bc staff they should be able to reassure you xx

Hi grogcat mines 3cm tumour and 1 affected lymph node, well that’s what ultrasound said and haven’t been told any different xx

Hi SueW I’m having chemo 1st due to being HER2 positive then lumpectomy and removing of affected lymph node x
