Unwanted Breast Prosthesis

Hi Everyone

I had reconstructive surgery in December 08 and very pleased with it I am too!

I now have some breast prosthesis that are surplus to requirements and wondered if anyone can make use of them? All but one, which I bought, were given to me by the hospital and I have offered them back but they say they can’t use them. Two of them are the stick on types which I was given to try but didn’t get on with so they’ve only been used a couple of times. The other two are standard ones which have been used in pocketed mastectomy bras. They are all in excellent condition and I hate throwing things away if someone can use them.

1 x stick on Harmony Connect size 7
1 x stick on Harmony Connect size 8
1 x Amoena Natura 1S 663 size 7
1 x Amoena Tresia Personally Lite 663 size 8

All are in their original boxes. I live near Lincoln but would post them if the cost of postage is covered as they are quite heavy.

Hi Sax Lady

If you do not have any take up of your offer of prosthesis, Breast Cancer Care donate unwanted prosthesis to the following charities, if you are interested.

The charity Hospices of Hope sends prostheses to Romania.

Breakthrough Cancer Trust Zambia (BCT) also request prostheses. They can be contacted at:

I hope you manage to find a good home for them all.

Best wishes

I’m quite sure these are too big for me, but I would love your guidance. I am a size 36A and have had a mastectomy of the left breast. I want the ‘stick-on’ type prosthesis as I often go bra-less and for very obvious reasons can’t since my surgery. I know I saw breast prosthesis online at one time that stick on and stay on for a week at a time. I don’t think I was hallucinating. Can you help me out? Darn… I wish I was big enough to make use of this wonderful gift!

Hi Marlene

I’m not sure I can help much. The stick on ones I’ve got are designed to be worn during the day and removed at night (as far as I know!) I was a size 34E so they probably won’t be any good for you, what a shame.

Other than that I can’t help much, sorry. Are you thinking about a reconstruction as I would highly recommend it…I love my new boob!!

I have 4 boxed that I would like to dispose. Off practically . I have been told there is a shop in Pimlico who would take the used prosthesis does anyone know of their address . They are belonging to the Hospice of hope

Hello everyone,

I am Mika, and I am a student from Saxion University of Applied Sciences.

I hope that this message is appropriate on this thread, if not, then I will remove it immediately.

I am working with four other students on an design project, we want to design an improved type of external breast prosthesis.

We want to discover what you think of the current products on the market, we have reasons to believe that 30% of the women that use a prosthesis are not satisfied with their product. We want to design a solution for this group.

It would help us tremendously if a few of you would anonymously fill out our online survey, here is the link (you might have to change the language from Dutch to English):

saxion.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8J1hgnX7yP5XKbr

If the survey is too long, please submit what you have filled in, every answer helps us.

Thanks in advance, Mika
