Hi Yesterday I had Symmetrising mammoplasty surgery, which is basically an uplift and slight reduction to my left breast after having a tumour removed in my right breast and radiotherapy 2 years ago. Has anyone gone through a similar surgery. I appreciate it’s day one and there is a lot of swelling but my uplifted breast looks quite a bit higher than the other one. I wished I had asked the surgeon what to expect. I know I’m being impatient and appreciate I need to give it some time to settle and for the swelling to go down, but I hope the breast will drop? I’m expecting them to look identical. Any advice appreciated, thank you.
Hi, I’m not quite the same as you but I had therapeutic mammoplasty on my left breast at the same time as having my lumpectomy to try and keep a natural shape. My surgeon said my breast would be quite a bit smaller than my non affected right breast. However 6 weeks on the swelling has gone down and it’s a very similar size and shape. For the first few weeks it was noticeably higher, more pert, than the right side. Similar to how you are describing yours. But it has definitely dropped to a more natural position now. I think it’s probably too early for yours to be in its final position so I wouldn’t worry too much. Give it a bit of time Hope you’re healing well x
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, it means a lot. It’s reassuring to know you had a similar experience and things will settle over the next weeks and months.
