@floweryharris88 - I was in your shoes this time last year and the wait for the initial appointment was horrific … in my case it was cancer , however , mastectomy and chemo and a year down the line I’m still here and eternally grateful
To live in a time when breast cancer treatments are more advanced than they’ve ever been x
If I could go back and talk to myself a year ago … I’d say this…
first off … there is no point going out out of your mind and looking at all scenarios as none of it will change the outcome … googling and looking up things won’t help because unles you have a diagnosis (and everyone is different ) you don’t really know what to research …
So for now I’d say … until someone says it’s cancer … try to keep your mind off things … go out for walks… lunch … shopping … work etc
something like 8 out 10 breast lumps are innocent or benign … most people who go to the 2ww clinic will come away being told it’s not cancer …
Now obviously there will be people who are told it’s cancer … and this doesnt mean … you should rush home and say your goodbyes to your family and write your will ! Breast cancer treatments are fantastic these days , we have so many targeted therapies as well that we didn’t use to have … every day you could walk past so many people who had breast cancer , 5,10 or 20 years ago and you wouldn’t know .
If you do get a breast cancer diagnosis , you take it from there and we are here to support you x
In the meantime if you feel you want to chat to anyone you can contact the Breast Cancer Now nurses
