Does anyone know how soon after chemo you can receive a vaccine. Thinking of the Covid vaccine that will shortly be rolled out. I’m not sure if it is a ‘live’ vaccine but I seem to remember reading that people who have had Docetaxol shouldn’t receive live vaccines for several months. Does anyone have any info?
Hi Maire
I don’t know the answer to your question but I do know that none of the three vaccines in the running are live vaccines. I haven’t the foggiest about how they work but I distinctly remember reading that detail as these, certainly the Pfizer one, work with the genetic material in our cells. After that, I can’t explain…
However, your oncologist is the best person to ask - each treatment plan is unique. If s/he isn’t accessible, your breast-care nurse is bound to have been asked by others.
