Is anyone suffering from yellow/sometimes pink vaginal discharge and slight period pains after taking Arimedex? Have been taking arimedex for 2 1/2 months.
Any comments be appreciated on this - thanks!

I have been on arimedex since august 07 and like you have had some pinky discharge. I saw gp in January as i was also sure i have water infection. GP though the discharge was due to vaginal dryness caused by the arimedex. Did have water infection and was prescribed anti bs for it. thought all was good but have this week started the pinky discharge again, so maybe it is jut the effect of arimedex. Also feel sore at time as well. Don’t know if this is any help to you.
Hi Zippy I have been on Arimadex since last July I have a terrible discharge I have had a smear done which was clear also a swab done which came back clear as well. I had my first yearly check up 2 weeks ago and mentioned this to my oncologist he said it wasent right I should be really dry as Arimadex makes you drier down below. He told me to go back to my doctor and ask him to refer me to a Gynacologist which I have done. I did have some antibiotics 6 weeks ago from my doctor but they never cleared it up.I am just waiting for an appointment to come. This discharge is driving me crazy as I am having 3 showers a day and 3 changes of underwear.I do hope you get it sorted as I know what you are going through.Let me know how you get on Love Linda xxx

Just thinking of you and wondering if you have seen gp about discharge. My gp has given me another course of anti bs, as may be water infection again. Think the pinky discharge is where dryness is cause slight bleeding. She has also prescribed cream to help with dryness/soreness. She examined me and said if still discharge after anti bs will have to be sent to see specialist. It may be best for you to talk to GP or onc to get some answers.
The things we have to put up with.

Thanx for the replies, seen doctor had urine sample and swabs and both are negative - although I went to accupuncture and she did urine sample at the beginning and said had slight water infection and felt that my kidneys were sore, but when I saw the doctor she said it wasnt my kidneys but my ovary area and I dont have any (had oophrectomy couple years ago) so its all very confusing!! I am waiting to hear back from my onc. - must chase again today to get her thoughts. Anyway, I have an ultra sound scan booked for wednesday - not sure when get results though. I have convinced myself its due to arimedex, I dont have period type pains anymore so i think its improving but its weird and extremely annoying!!! I totally agree just want to get on with our lives!!! Dont need this hassle!

Had my ultrascan on wednesday - no abnormalities to be seen - and weirdly symptoms are getting better and less frequent, so fingers xd its going to go! I hope so - driving me crazy!!!

So pleased your ultrascan has shown no abnormalities and really hope it will all clear up for you.
I have seen onc today and they are doing another c t scan as think the c could be spreading. I had a hysterectomy 15 years ago but it seems they may have left the cervix. After two internals today, firstly the registrar then the consultant they have said i am very raw inside and although they can not see or feel anything think i may need to see another specialist. They are getting c t done as urgent so hopefully will no more in a couple of weeks. Also questioning if it has spread to brain so bit fed up at moment.
I try to be positive at all times but sometimes it is impossible.

HI zippy Glad to hear all was well I am still suffering with this discharge I am still waiting on my appointment to come throughto see the gynacologist it is getting me down now I have no pain just this bloody discharge.I do feel well otherwise. I am back working full time again and life is pretty good at the moment apart from this problem. I will let you know how I get on keep well Love Linda x xx

My discharge seems to have settled more, its got less and less and somedays doesnt even happen! which is a relief…
Jenny - I am sorry to hear of your news and now brain worries??? how pants this c is, it is just really unfair I hope all the scans turn out to be negative…

Thank for message. I will e-mail you when i know what is going on. I have always been positive about all this but last week when i saw onc and they made the urgent scan i will admit i am worried. I tell everyone it will be fine but deep inside i am worried. I have ct tommorow then see onc on Wednesday. After the two internals the bleeding has been worse and also very sore but that is what i would expect.

Wednesday was a bit of a day. They said abdomin not showing anything on ct scan but they still are not happy so i have to see gynocologist. Found mets in skull which are causing pressure on the brain. Firstly was going to have rads striaght away but now because speech is slurred they are going to do MRI on wednesday to check brain more thoroughly. Started steriod to try to start shrinking it then will make more decisions when they have all results.
I hope your discharge gets sorted. I will e-mail you soon to see how things are.

Hi Rachel Been to the hospital last friday seen a lovely lady doctor who examined me then said I looked very dry and quite healthy down below she then said the problem was caused by the Arimadex because there was no hormones getting to me because of taking the Arimadex and this was causing the problem. She then said I had to takesome hormones I told her I couldnt do this as my BC iwas hormone receptive she then said said she had read all my bc notes and checked with my onc and I could have hormones rthayt was injected straight into the vagina as they were not going anywhere else. So she gave a presctiption and its like a pen and you put the tablet into the end of it and just press the button on the top and it shooots the tablet straight into you. She said I have to take thes for 6 weeks and then go back and see her so I will let you know how I get on Take Care Love Lindaxxxxxxxxx

Good to hear the docs are doing something about it, although I agree I would be a bit concerned re: hormone receptive cancer, as the idea behind arimedex is to stop the hormones! - altho there is one good thing I guess it means the arimedex is doin its job well in stopping the hormones!
I wonder why perhaps they didnt change you for a different hormone drug? I guess they trying the hormone tablets first before considering that?
I really really hope this works tho, I feel so fortunate that mine has completely stopped and apart from the odd tum upset every few weeks i feel good.
