Very anxious Easter - odd sensation + thickening/soreness

Hello everyone, newbie here but reading the threads has been so useful.

I’ve had an ‘odd’ sensation in my right breast for the last couple of months, which has developed into soreness/pain and an unusual patch of thickening/swelling on the upper outer side. My GP has been really prompt and has referred me straight away, have the appointment for the breast clinic on 27th April.

Sorry, just rambling really but I wanted to join everyone on the ‘waiting bench’ as, like lots of you I’m so anxious and am prodding away, making my soreness more sore I guess!

I’ve had infections before (I’m 40 and have large, dense, lumpy boobs) but this feels different and I can’t get it out of my head that thickening always = cancer. So I’m dreading the worst of course, even though I have no risk factors other than (honestly!) probably drinking that bit more than I should since my teens.

Just can’t seem to be ‘present’ enough to enjoy Easter with my partner and family with the worry hanging over my head.

Lots of best wishes and good vibes to everyone else waiting too. S x

Hi Sazzle,
Most breast changes, even ‘thickening,’ does not turn out to be bc, but, thankfully it will be properly checked out.
Well, I’m sure most of us have had some lifestyle factors, so dont lose any sleep on that.
Anxiety is fairly inevitable when waiting as, it is difficult to turn off the anxiety switch - be nice if we could!, but carrying on as normal & distracting yourself helps.
let us know how you get on.
