very bad right side pain in the morning and at night...

I am posting on behalf of my closest friend Heather…Now ned having taken avastin/taxol for a year for sec tn bc.She is on a chemo break, but has very bad pain at night in her back/side, right hand, says when she gets up it feels like something inside is not in the right place, very unpleasant sensation, then by lunch time it seems to have settled into the right place and pain recedes to dull ache. she recently had a clear bone scan and is due an mri to investigate further. Heat helps the pain a lot, and onc says its probably nerve pain, her mx radiotherapy etc was right side, but that was more than three years ago, and this pain is new. Any ideas or advice? We are both very worried they may be missing something xx

Hi Bestfriend
Just responding to bump up in case someone can help. Have you any further news from docs?
Thinking of you and Heather
Tara xx

thanks Tara, no more news and she is still in a lot of pain, got some different painkillers with the help of the mac nurse so they may improve things. I teach in special school and Heather works with me, she is tough and soldiers on but we have been friends for 30 years and I know when she is in pain,We both just feel that you don’t get serious pain unless something is wrong, lets hope we are wrong and its rads damage or something. another MRI next week, an hour long so she is not looking forward to that .I do hope you are doing ok. kim x

Dear bestfriend, I think it is good that the hospital are taking her concerns seriosly. There are drugs out there which can help with pain but I do think you need to get results first. i take Gabapentin for example for nerve pain and amitriptylene for sciatica which can cause a pain in the buttock and down th back of my leg. But you really need to speak to the hospital doctors. I also had a similar pain. I knew something was just not right so I got it checked out. My Oncologist then referred me to an Orthopaedic surgeon after she looked at my xrayss of the hip and thigh. But I do think you need to wait to see what her doctor thinks. She has a good friend ( you!) who is willing to take the troube to write on her behalf. Val
