Very Helpful Article. Thanks!

Just wanted to say a big ‘thankyou’ for the great article in your magazine i got this morning. It is the one on ‘Is it coming back’.
Thanks to Dr Cordelia Galgut who wrote it.

Is it ok to photocopy it as i know a few people who i would like it give it too.
Hubby read it and said it helped him tremendously. He has been so lovely and attentive today, long may it continue.

Just recently i have felt ‘useless’ as i am so frightened of a re-ocurrence and felt everyone else has moved on and is coping so well. This article made me realise i am actually ‘normal’ in what i fear.

thanks again, great magazine.

Yes I also thought this article was good. Liked the bit about breast cancer not being a ‘journey’…I hate that phrase.

I think someone should write an article though about what happens when you DO get a recurrence…when the terrible fear becomes a reality…as it has for me and will for a third to a half of us all…actually in my experience its not quite like you anticipate.

Also liked the article on risk and the review of abook called Bandolier’s Little Book of Making Sense of the Medical Evidence…I think understanding research and weighing up evidence about risk factors are both really important…this sort of stuff should be taught in schools so people can challenge the way that media headlines can distort.

Lucy.its not Vita magazine (which I don’t like at all) but Breast Cancer News. Perhaps you could provide the link to this.

I came on here to make a comment about the great article too but you beat me to it Ruth. This edition seems much more interesting somehow .Can’t put my finger on exactly why. I will be passing my copy onto a newly diagnosed friend of a friend.

Ruth I agree with everything written in the article and found it very refreshing that the psychologist acknowledged that she didn’t fully understand what a BC diagnosis meant before she herself was diagnosed.

By the way Jane. There is a photo of a group on the front cover that accompanies the Time to be heard event. I idly wondered if you were on the photo (I seem to recall you took part in this - or similar?) and tried to make out which one was you -difficult since I’ve never seen you at all . I promptly settled on the lady standing far right.
Oops
Joan Bakewell does look rather good for her age though dont you think.

Must remember to get in a good light when looking at things.

Joan Bakewell looks very good…better than me I reckon…though a good 14 or so years older!..I avoid photos and no I’m not on it!

Jane

Many thanks for the information Lucy. I have ordered a copy.

Hi everyone

I think Amoena are going to do an article on secondaries in their next edition.

I was also at the Time to be Heard campaign - wasn’t aware that there was a photo going around and it just made me think that we had our photos taken and what have they done with them??!!

Yes, I agree as well - Joan Bakewell does look good for her age!
