Hi had 2nd session of FEC 5 days ago, been feeling a bit rubbish( as you do). Just noticed my gums have gone very pale, almost white except for a thin line at base of gum which looks dark pink, but just prob looks dark cos rest is v pale, it’s one I haven’t heard about, ought I be concerned or am I being silly? Would appreciate anyone’s advice x
I’m only on first FEC but also around day 5 had very pale gums. It passed in a couple of days. Gums are good indicators of changes to the body aren’t they - vets always look at animals gums to see if they are ill!! I just put it down to the blood count changes during the chemo cycle, remember how much stress your poor system is under right now. Xxx
Hi Lynda
I would agree with Tasha. A friend of mine who is a chemo nurse is always looking at my nails to see whether I’m anaemic throughout the cycle. I reckon gums are the same - just an indicator that your white blood count is down. Is your temperature normal? If you’re at all concerned phone your unit
Hang in there x
Hi pollyAnne, normally its one of the indicators of anaemia, can be because of big bleed in body but whilst on chemo it’s likely drop in red bloods cells , get some liver and green veg down you Hun xx
Thank you ladies, yes temp is fine… Bit low actually but I tend to low. It was just one of those weird things I suddenly noticed out of the blue, oh lols the liver n veg thing, a bit ambitious at mo , not handling food v well at mo . Thanks for answering, don’t think I will concern myself with it at mo,on the scale of stuff we are going through its pretty low down , was more just curious and looks really odd xx
