Hi I have just been diagnosed with regional reocurance in my coller bone and under left arm, I have been put on capecitabine 14 days and Vinorelbine day one and day eight oral as my onc said my vains not good enough to tolerate the iv, done 2 doses of the Vin and it has completely knocked me out each time for 4 - 5 days, has anyone gone from oral to iv and is there a significant difference been told better iv for side effects, I go to see onc next week and want to discuss having an iv port if this is the case I want to work as much as I can through treatment but at the moment there is no way, don’t realy have any side effects from the Cap, so if I could sort the Vin life would be much easier ! xx
Hi
I cant help you with the chemo side effects as that’s one chemo I havent had! However my veins werre pretty much destroyed by FEC when I had that 8 years ago and I knew when I next needed IV chemo I would ask for a port. It’s the best decision Ive taken! Simple procedure to have it put in and an absolute doddle to use. The nurses love them too as it makes their life so much easier and it’s quicker for all of us. I’ve had mine now over 2 years and as I’m on ongoing Herceptin and Pertuzamab every 3 weeks it makes life so much easier - and less stressful in the chemo unit as we no longer play hunt the vein!

Hi Soosiedoo, side effects are apparently the same either way. Veins definitel dont like vinoralbeine
i used to fill my mouth with water and throw the capsules in,to ensure they got to the stomach before they melted. My nails were the worst/ only side effect really…got pink finger ends but thats all
