Hi all
I have just had my first cycle of chemo and got home about an hour ago. My vision has gone really blurred and I’m struggling to focus in one eye. Is this normal? Dont want to ring the hotline in case it is. Thanks
Sindy, never hesitate to ring the helpline for advice they would rather you rang to check it out . Hopefully they will just re-assure you that it’s nothing to worry about.
Hi Sindy
I haven’t had chemotherapy though I have come across other treatments that have temporarily affected vision. I would hope that if it could affect your vision they would have told you.
However I have had problems with my eyes and after a central retinal vein occlusion my vision is permanently damaged in my left eye.
Treatment has helped and I live a normal independent life but problems with vision are not something that should be taken lightly and I would definitely advise you contacting them .
With best wishes
Joanne
Hello
I had exactly the same thing happen after my first chemo, though not quite as quickly as that. I hadn’t read about this being a side-effect so was also worried. For me it lasted the whole week I’m afraid - a combination of blurry vision & not being able to focus/concentrate on things. But there is no harm in calling the hotline to have it noted down and also to get any advice from them. Good luck & take care.
Don’t hesitate to phone the hotline - I did many times. It’s so much better than worrying. I found going though chemotherapy a very frightening and lonely place and it’s always good to receive reassurance from experts.
Always check everything with your team during chemo a quick 2 minute call to check with them, they’ve seen it all so will take care of you completely during chemo, you ringing them helps them get you safely through please let us know how you get on Shi (BCN Forum Community Champion) Jill1998 is also a BCN Forum Community Chanpion.
I did check in and they said it was fine. Coupled with the fact I had not really slept for the 2 nights previous worrying about it all didn’t help as I was exhausted. It only lasted 30 mins so will be interesting to see if the same happens after cycle 2. Thanks for all your replies. xx
