Hi us it ok to take vitamin d after breast cancer. Also magnesium.

I’m prescribed vitD as a combined calcium chew as part of my treatment (Tamoxifen, Zoladex & Zometa).
My oncologist also agreed I can take Magnesium as no contraindications with my treatment plan.
It might be best to check with your oncology team but hope this helps for now ![]()
Thanks. I’ve been off letrazol for nearly 3 months. I’ve gone 5.half years since my operation.
Thanks
Hi @sandy52
Thanks for posting.
Many people ask about vitamins and supplements, as they want to do as much as possible to be healthy following a diagnosis of breast cancer or to help manage the side effects from treatments. There is often the belief that these products are safe as they are considered natural.
However, most don’t have to comply with the same regulations or rigorous testing that conventional medicines do. For many products there is a lack of research to support their use, and some can interfere with conventional medicines including cancer treatments.
You can search this American website, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, for information about vitamin D and magnesium.
The main source of vitamin D is sunlight, our booklet Diet and breast cancer has information on how you can get vitamin D through foods.
As @cujo4498 says do speak to your treatment team, GP, or a pharmacist before taking any supplements.
