I went to see my doctor 3 weeks ago about my left breast not feeling right, when she checked she found a lump and made a referral to be seen within 2 weeks, it has now been 3 weeks and I have been given an appointment for next Monday. I’m really scared but what’s hurting more is that I’m doing it alone as my partner isn’t bothered, he keeps stressing me with unnecesery problems which is messing with my head even more. What should I do as I’m not coping and am really scared
What you’re feeling is common to many of us here, the waiting is always the worst part in dealing with this, but you have done something about it & it will get sorted out.
Sorry to hear that you don’t feel supported by your partner, with this going on, of course you will feel stressed by it, it just keeps banging away in your mind. Is he aware of how anxious you are, or is he blocking it out a bit as a way of coping himself?
In coping with the wait, there is no magic wand, but trying to carry on as normal & distracting yourself can help. The internet is also best avoided as it only feeds anxiety, for no good reason.
Also, for most breast changes, it turns out to be nothing serious & the vast majority of women here report the all clear after being seen. Even if on the off chance, it is bc, then please be assured that the vast majority of us get through it & are getting on with our lives. Treatment is excellent now.
If you want to, do let us know how you get on & come back if you need to chat further.
