I had a second stage appointment on Friday following abnormal routine mammogram in December. They found an area of ‘distorted tissue’ and calcification. During my follow up appointment I had a mammogram, a tomography mammogram and an ultrasound. This all showed a 20mm by 14mm dense area of microcalcification and I was told I’d need a special biopsy, performed during a tomography mammogram. However, they didn’t have the equipment to do it that day. They said someone should call me or I may get a letter with an appointment for biopsy, but couldn’t give me an indication of when this would be. They’ve booked me a follow-up appointment for results in just over 2 weeks but said this may need to be postponed if I haven’t got the biopsy results by this time.
My lovely Mum had DCIS and was diagnosed following an almost identical situation, but she had her biopsy on the same day as her mammogram and other tests.
I guess I just wondered if anyone else had to wait for a biopsy appointment. I’ve been waiting for 9 days now and still no appointment . The wait is driving me crazy and not knowing when the appointment will be is definitely contributing to this. Can anyone relate?
I had similar but with a stereotactic biopsy. The waiting us awful. Maybe give your breast unit a call and see if they can clarify time lines. Usually urgent in the NHS (so when the breast clinic ask for more tests) it’s within 2 weeks. Worst case, you are in the same situation as you are now
I had similar although I had my appointment the next week for a core biopsy that they did under mammogram so maybe chase up if you’ve not heard back. I then had to have a vacuum biopsy under mammogram a few weeks later as my biopsy results were benign but not consistent with the imaging. That came back benign too so I’ve then had to have an excision biopsy under general anaesthetic and waiting for the results on that now which is a longer wait but they have taken out the whole area anyway as part of the biopsy 3cm x 4cm area. I had my routine mammogram mid of October, got call back a week later and have been back and forth to the breast care centre since
Thank you so much @2kittens and @morph2 for your messages. I finally got an appointment date through for 16/2. Still just over a week to wait but I’m just so relieved to finally have a date to work towards. Results appt is booked for 23/2 so hoping that’s long enough for the results to come through. How are you both doing? Have you got your results back yet @morph2 ?
