Waiting for appointment and now found lump in armpit :(

Hi all posted earlier this week about the lump I’d found in my breast and the fact that even with a urgent referral from my gp I have to wait till the beginning of January waiting is a nightmare but now I have found a small lump in my arm just next to my armpit, it feels like a enlarged gland?( found it as near my armpit has been aching, more so in the morning and was rubbing it and found it )I don’t really want to start googling it but could anyone tell me if this is a worrying sign ? Has anyone else found one in the breast and little one in the armpit area while waiting ?

Hi…are you in the UK?..I might be wrong but I was under the impression that if you found a lump you had to be referred to the Breast Clinic and had to be seen within 2 weeks…a month is a long time to wait…I found a lump in my right breast last Aug…was seen at breast clinic in lancaster first week of Sep…and had op 13th Oct…but as I say I might be wrong…

Hi Applestreet thanks for your reply, yes I’m in the uk but in Wales which has a recomended 2weeks but is not a requirement ! Like england My doctor is trying to get the appointment bought forward and is disgusted with the waiting time, the referral was made on the 22nd off November so will be 6 weeks . I fear I may have lost all my marbles by then, especially after I found the little hard lump in my arm last night

I had exactly the same experience as you - finding a little lump near my armpit, as well as the one in my breast, and was terrified that it had already spread to my lymph nodes. However, it turned out to be nothing sinister, although the one in my breast was cancer.
The problem is that there’s absolutely no way of telling until they do the tests - it may or may not be problematic, but mine wasn’t. The wait you are having is outrageous - hope your doctor gets it changed. xx

Hi Lisa

I don’t want to alarm you but I feel you must push for an earlier appointment. If your referral was on 22 November and it’s now 6 December I’m surprised you haven’t completely lost your marbles already.

I first found a lump in my armpit then realised the next day there was something amiss in my breast next to it. My GP only felt the lump in my armpit, referred me straight away and by the time I arrived home my phone was ringing and it was his receptionist giving me an appointment for the next clinic. Both lumps turned out to be cancer and I’d had my first op within 4 weeks of finding them, one week of this was waiting for the results of the core biopsies and two weeks waiting for the result of an MRI scan.

Of course, 9 out of 10 turn out to be not cancer and I dearly hope that is the case for you. However, if it is then you need to be in the system getting it sorted out. However, again, trying not to panic you, I was told (after chemo delay because I needed further surgery) that a few weeks wouldn’t make any difference, that I’d probably had it for a few years. But I just know how I, and others posting on the Forum, have felt whilst waiting and worrying - it’s really the hardest time and it’s so difficult to function normally, particularly not being able to sleep. Once you know, if it’s nothing sinister you can happily carry on with life as normal but if it is then you need to know when it’s going to be removed, what’s going to happen and when.

I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you and send you my best wishes. Let us know how you get on.
