I had to return after my mammogram for further investigation. After a 2nd mammogram, ultra sound and biopsy they tagged the area and then sent me for another mammogram. I then went back to see the nurse and I didn’t really take in what was said. They said they found something and mentioned 1 being normal breast tissue and what they found was a 5. I felt like they were telling me I have breast cancer without actually telling me and that the return visit is just a formality because they also spoke about having a lumpendectomy and possibly radiation therapy but that it hasn’t gone to my lymph nodes and it’s only about 7mm so is that good?. They asked if I had any questions and I should have asked something or asked do you think I have breast cancer but I was in shock and a bit numb. Does a 5 mean it’s very likely and the biopsy is just to confirm?
Hi @col You came to the right place. It’s pretty normal to have questions after the biopsy and most of us can’t think straight in the face of worrying news.
They won’t know officially until the biopsy, and will confirm the type.
I was told they were pretty sure I had cancer at the time of biopsy. I took my husband to the results snd he asked my questions. Hopefully yours will be clear. 7mm is smallish so that is good news. Good luck xx
