Hi @leopard welcome to the forum, you will get plenty of support here.
I was called back from a routine mammogram, underwent the various tests and biopsies. It was actually at the biopsy, when I was lying on the table with the radiologist scrabbling around trying to find the lump that I said that my mother had had a blocked milk duct, perhaps it could that, only for her to reply matter-of-factly “no, it is cancer but the biopsy will tell us what sort”. Yes the waiting for results is generally acknowledged to be the worst part but I had been forewarned so it was far less anxious. I’m not sure which is better. My tumour was 14mm so considered small so IF yours does come back positive but is 12mm then it will most likely be categorised as Stage 1 - which is good. Big IF of course.
I just wanted to reassure you that you will almost certainly be able to go on holiday. Breast cancer is not a medical emergency unlike say, heart attack, stroke, aneurysm and sepsis so any further tests you might be required to have can be fitted in a round preplanned commitments. As mentioned mine was 14mm and I was told that it could have been growing for three and a half years so a few weeks won’t make any difference.
With regard to researching, it is probably best to leave it until you know what type and grade it is - once again, IF that’s what it turns out to be - as treatment paths can be very different depending on breast cancer type and you could be alarming yourself unnecessarily. I am a big researcher myself so fully understand the appeal but from this distance also understand the pitfalls. Stick to reputable sites like NHS, MacMillan and obviously Breast Cancer Now.
For reference, I was 66 when diagnosed and will soon be turning 71. Treatment (surgery, radiotherapy and endocrine therapy) has been successful to date and time does lessen the shock and upheaval. I wish you luck at your results meeting and, also, happy holidays.

Thank you for your reply and so glad you came through it Im 63.
You give me hope, I was thinking the same regarding my hols, I wouldn’t mind if it was just me and the husband but has its family I really want to go.
I know this appointment is forefront in my mind but Im planning for the hols just to keep my mind from drifting.
I really do appreciate your post.
Take care xx
You are very welcome and, if it doesn’t sound patronising, good for you re the holidays. Should the results not be what you want, I assure you that you’ll feel better knowing what the plan is to get rid of it and out the other side. You will feel as if things are more under control than you do now. Allowing life to go on as positively as possible also gives one more control. As bewildering as it all feels now, it will get better. Do let us know how you get on.

Almost most biopsy are nervous and overwhelming
Just relax and wait the results
There is nothing else we can really do when waiting

Been to clinic today , The wait in there was awful, but the outcome is the best I could hope for.
I have a radial scar which is going to be removed with vacum biopsy as its only 12mm.
Thank you for being there why I anxiously awaited the appointment.
Wishing you all the best for the future xx
