Hi all. Thought I should finally post and say hello.
My wife is currently in surgery for a right mastectomy and sentinel node biopsy. ER+5 grade 3. It’s grown even since diagnosis 6 weeks ago, and we’re both pretty convinced she has secondaries due to right sided lung issues (breathlessness, pain in right shoulder) and right sided rib pain, nevermind everything else that is right sided that’s been going on since easter.
I’m terrified. I keep having horrible intrusive negative thoughts that just knock the wind out of me. And I honestly can’t even imagine how SHE must feel as she’s the one who has it.
She should be out of theatre in a couple hours, hopefully all will be well surgery wise and post op. Then all the chemo and whatever else they decide will start, as soon as humanly possible due to it being aggressive.
My head in a mess.
I love her so much.
Guess I just needed to vent.
Welcome to the forum @biglors . It’s such a horrible scary time at the start of treatment when you really don’t know what you are dealing with and what is to come . I hope your wife’s operation goes well and hoping for good news from any further investigations .
Oh @biglors I’m so sorry you’re both having to go through this ordeal. It’s so easy for the mind to jump to conclusions about secondaries, we all do it, but no doubt your medical team will investigate that as soon as practicable following mastectomy. It will be an anxious time for you until you get some answers and your wife will need your support. Could you speak to your GP about giving you something to control the anxiety in the short term? Many on this forum do so and there is no shame in doing whatever you can to help support your wife in the best ways possible.
Please let us know how she - and you - are doing following surgery and into further investigation.
Hi there…guessing surgery all over now …just wanted to wish your partner well…i was convinced it had spread …i had pains everwhere …anxiety can be viscious …so i would say concentrate on the next days of recovery from surgery and take oneday at a time …i wish your wife the very best as she goes thru treatment and wish you yourself well
