Waiting for results too!

Hi All,
Had op yesterday 10th Dec,day surgery, removed cancer lump 1.6cm + surrounding margin, thank god the alien is out! had SNB and letter for GP says :1 node blue not hot v.reactive no course( i think its says course writing bit ropey), also 1 node on pedicle 10 sec c 290100 background 4400, any ideas what this all means anyone?? I have my follow up results appointment on the 18th , after begging consultant not to make me wait until after Christmas, as you all know ‘its the waiting not the telling that does your head in’
love to hear from anyone in similar plight.

Hello.

I cant help from the medical perspective except to say keep busy whilst you’re waiting to try and keep your mind off it. I had a lumpectomy last month which was believed to be benign. I was therefore shocked to find it wasn’t and I needed the SLNB. I got my results back a week later and all was fine but that week was hard and was only a week ago so can stil remember the fear.I watched loads of movies which for me gave my mind a break from worrying. I hope you’re sleeping okay as being tired won’t help. I found the odd dose of night nurse helped me sleep but obviously just a very short term fix. I was advised to avoid the internet but I ignored this and personally found it beneficial to understand more about BC but thats a personal thing I guess.
Beyond that all I can say is you will find the strength to get through it and I hope your results are good.

Virtual hugs,
Suzi

You could ring the breast care nurse, or this helpline, for guidance as to what the letter means. It seems odd that you were given the letter without any explanation. Don’t they normally send it direct?

Good luck, anyway!

Thanks Ann, The BCN is ringing me at home on Monday as i didnt get to speak/see anyone after day surgery, so your right I will ask her for an explanation, we have enough to worry about with it all without confusing GP letters handed to us not in an envelope by the way either. will keep you all updated for future reference for anyone else.
Regards, Sue

I’m in a similar position, went for routine mammogram found to have micro calcification, had a lump removed 3 weeks ago but they haven’t taken enough so have to go in again on Tuesday to have some more removed…feeling so terrified at the moment. Thought I was handling everything but now cant slep or eat as I am so fraught with stress and worry…help!

I am thinking of you , the time will go I know its no help to hear that but try to keep busy with Christmas stuff, I have written out a ‘to do’ list and a Xmas week shopping list , in fact anything to keep my mind off ‘The Thing’, I have counted the days until Friday, my results day in hours and minutes as has propably every other onliner here!
Try to keep your 'pecker’up we all need one another for support.
keep in touch

Hi Sue

Thanks for replying…having a better day today, managed to eat some lunch and took a sleeping tablet last night and slept for 8 hours!!!

Still very apprehensive about Tuesday its the fear and the dread in my stomach everytime I think about the possibilities of things that could be wrong (which is virtaully all the time) …but trying to be positive…

Love Phillippa from Kent

Good luck for all of you having to wait for results/treatment plans etc. Not and east time . I was in the same place two years ago.

hi all,
Another sleepless night despite sleepers from doc , got appointment tomorrow Friday for results of last Thursdays surgery, the waiting is unbearable , I know its the same for all, but surely with such technology and WLE + SNB being done in a day surgery unit there should be a format in place for some kind of re assurance or some results at least to be provided on the day or day after! Am I the only one that feels this immense frustration, I am sorry to sound off, but sleep deprevation is evil and like the rest of us BC’s i need to know to move on, to sleep, to plan, to live!
Roll on Tomorrow, I need to get a grip.
