In Leics. we have mammogram appointment every 18 months from the date of diagnosis.
Today I’ve been for my first since completing surgery, chemo and rads 10months ago and afterwards was told that I would have to wait a month for the results
Is this usual-it seems excessive to me. I would be interested in other people’s experiences.
I was diagnosed with bc in April '07 and had my first mammogram a year later. I am having my second mammo next week, which will be 18 months later. This is in Glasgow…My surgeon evidently feels 18-monthly is sufficient and he’s very experienced, so I’m happy with that. What I wasn’t so happy about was waiting 3.5 weeks for the results last year. In fact, it was only because I had a routine appointment with the oncologist and asked if they knew the results… I suspect that if I hadn’t had that, I would have had to wait even longer. The onc insisted you only waited 2 weeks for results and wouldn’t really accept I’d waited 3.5 weeks… as if I didn’t know!! Every day seemed like a week!!
This time next week, I’ll have started the waiting game!
