How long do people generally wait for surgery? I’ve got a 12mm grade 1 IDC, ER positive and PR positive. Still waiting for HER2 results. I’m due to have a wire guided WLE and sentinel node biopsy. I’ve been told that I need to be at the hospital by 7am on the day of the operation. I don’t drive and local buses do not start early enough to get me there on time, so I will need to book a cab to get me to the hospital. Hopefully my daughter will be able to bring me home.
I got the diagnosis on 20th March and had pre op on 22nd March. Saw breast care nurse 25th March and due to see surgeon on 3rd April.
That seems pretty fast to me, fortunately. Some people wait far longer. Good luck.

Everywhere seems to dothings differently, but I wonder if you will get the date when you see your surgeon on 3rd April? There was some negotiation when my date was booked e.g. if there was any dates I needed to avoid in the immediate future. Where I had my surgery I had to have someone to bring me home and was told I couldn’t use a cab or public transport. I had the same surgery you are due to have on 6th Feb.
Hi,
I found a lump in my armpit end jan, had appointment breast clinic for investigations 15/2 saw the Consultant 27/2 and diagnosed breast cancer. Had my op- 12/3- wide local excision and sentinel node removal. got my results 27/3- grade 1 Tubular cancer & x1 node involved. Appointment 2/4 with Oncologist to discuss treatment. I think this time scale was reasonable.
Good luck with your treatment x
Had an appointment with the breast surgeon today. My iron levels are low, so they can’t operate yet. I’ve been put on iron tablets, to be monitored again in about 4 weeks. In the meantime they’re starting me on tamoxifen
