Waiting in terror

Hi everyone,

I found a large hard funny shaped lump in my breast that I feel just appeared out of nowhere. I now have a dull pain in my groin on that side and a constant sore sort of tight and burning feeling in my back on that side too. I’m terrified that these are signs that it is cancer and that it has spread already. One week to wait until triple assessment and I’m struggling not to spiral. :frowning:

First a big virtual hug.

We’ve all been there. The best advice I can give is take it one step at a time. Most lumps aren’t cancer. Many of the ones that are cancerous haven’t spread. There is wide range of treatments available whatever it is.

It’s hard but try not to think of all the possibilities just deal with what you know to be true.

:crossed_fingers:it’s a cyst or fibroadenoma.

Whilst waiting for initial appointments /results/ more tests or for treatment to start a lot of us have experienced the kinds of aches and pains in places other than our breasts just as you are doing now . My cancer was found on mammogram in my right breast - I had no clue there was anything there but from the moment it was found I got twinges in both breasts both armpits as well as some aches and pains elsewhere . These all miraculously cleared up after I had surgery . You become hypersensitive to things you might not normally notice , you’ve got your body under surveillance because you’re not sure you can trust it anymore . The waiting for tests and results is awful but as someone has already said just try to take a day at a time and if you get those twinges acknowledge that you feel them but don’t fixate on them . Sending love xx
