Well I’m nearly there. Got mx with expanding implant reconstruction on Friday 12 May. This is 5 weeks since surgeon booked me in and will be 80 days since definite diagnosis and 3 months since first appointment. The waiting has been a nightmare and although they said the LNs looked clear at the last u/s scan I am worried the cancer has spread there during the wait time. My diagnosis was 20mm invasive DCIS with 45mm DCIS and one small area or pre cancer further back. ER+ 8/8 and Her-. I’m having OSNA SNB in surgery so if there is any cancer in LNs they will remove all LNs.
If all goes to plan I should just need hormone therapy and of course continuing treatment for reconstruction. Really worried about LN results now though.
Can’t wait to get the cancer out. It’s been too long.
Hi CaroleM, really glad you’ve got a definite date now. Agree it’s been too long! You sound very similar to me in terms of size of tumour, DCIS, hormone status etc. Breast cancers mostly grow very slowly indeed (5 years to get to 1cm), so I would try not to fret that the delay has compromised your outcomes. Keep positive as you are, focus on clear lymph nodes but always know that if they are not clear, it just means a change of plan not a death sentence. Best of luck. xx
Thanks Argymargy
Good luck today Carole !!!
Thinking of you today Carole M. Let us know how you get on. Put yourself first for a change and be demanding - whether it’s pain relief, information, support, explanation, etc. Best of luck. xx
