Hello everyone
I had my “first anniversary” hospital appointment today and I have never felt so dejected. Had to wait over an hour for the appointment which is okay as they are so busy. When I got to see the doc he was a nice young man who did not have a clue. Started off by asking if I had had any rads and then asked if I was going to have any hormone treatment. I finished rads in january and have been on tamoxifen since december, surely both of these things should have been in my medical notes. He then said he would sort out a mammagram and was surprised when I told him I had one in August, no record of that either.
I was told last year that nipple reconstruction would be discussed in a years time but there was no mention of that.
Sorry to waffle on but I feel as if I have been fobbed off and dont know what to do
Thanks for listeneing
Hilary
So sorry to hear about your experience - what a nightmare! Sounds like you were too much in shock to ask him about the nipple yourself? think you need to do that … suggest you make another appointment ???.. good luck love FB xx
This is unacceptable as the doctor should have read your notes beforehand. I am classed as low priority so I always see a registrar rather than the consultant and I have seen two different ones. However, both of them have been clued up on my case and go through my notes with me. If that had happened to me, I would write to your consultant, expressing your concern at the lack of knowledge and request another appointment.
Hello Ladies
THanks for you comments and advice. I phoned my BCN who agreed that it was less than perfect so is making an appointment with the consultant for the next couple of weeks.
Thanks again
Hilary
