No-one told me to, but it felt more comfortable. then when i asked my bc nurse if it was OK to do so she said “oh yes”.  I think it gives helpful support in bed - mine was a post-op sports bra.

Hi Duracell, I was told to wear mine 24 hours per day. My op was 6 weeks ago and I still am, it comes off for about an hour each morning while I wash and to change it. Asked my surgeon last week if I could start sleeping without it and she said no I still need it. Best ask your Breast Care Nurse or surgeon as I guess it depends what surgery you’ve had. I was told to wear a bra day and night for 4 weeks but I suppose it depends on the surgery you had. If I was you I would speak to your specialist nurse.

I had a lumpectomy in October and I was told to wear a sports type bra day and night for a fortnight. I must admit that I moved to a stretchy comfort (no fastenings) bra at night for the last few days with no ill effects.

I am literally waiting for surgery - radioactive, marked up with pen & wired. No one has mentioned the constant bra wearing to me?

I certainly found it more comfortable  to wear a bra 24/7 after the WLE and SNB (and the re-exciions)

 

I was told to wear one for as long as needed and especially the first couple of weeks. So I  did for about a fortnight at night till it was comfy to do without

 

I wore soft  bralet/crop tops always as the SNB scar was right where  a bra edge would be so they came over it and did not rub as my bras did(that took 5-6 weeks). ALso the crop tops do not have seams over the nipple area  which is where my WLE scar  is (it took about 4 weeks to wear a bra with seams after the re-excisions)

 

I have now given up on bras with wires as they seem to pinch the SNB scar still

I had lumpectomy and sentinel lymph removal and I have been told to wear a bra 24/7. Think it depends on size if bigger boobs wear bra

Hi Duracell,

It can be more comfortable to wear a bra to bed for a while afterwards, but make sure it is a soft one, not underwired, and that is high enough at the edges to avoid any SNB scar.

Once your dressings come off, you may want to continue wearing a crop top/sports bra for a while, I know I did, as a “security blanket” to remind me that it was all still a bit tender.
