I am 9 days post-MX.

I am still wearing the corset as I find it so comfortable and supportive.

Just wondered when I should try wearing bras again?

I bought 2 sports bras pre-surgery but tried them this morning and was too uncomfortable. Looks like I need a trip to see Sadie The Bra Lady.

I had a mastectomy and reconstruction in March unfortunately my reconstruction rejected I held onto my breast for 12 days and then lost it. To say I was devastated was an understatement! The very thing i didnt want to happen happened!
Now I am facing Chemothereapy as I had cancer in my lymph nodes I have had a terrible experience but life goes on I just take it day by day. I always think there is still someone worse off than me so I will just smile and get through it because I know at the end of it all it will be worth it!
If anyone else has experienced a rejection I would love to hear from you.

Hi,
Perhaps 9 days following MX is too soon. I well remember that I could not wear a bra for at least 3 weeks. My favourite thing to wear was a cami top with formed cups. It was dead cheap from Primark.

HIya

There is no “right” time - it’s entirely when you feel comfortable. I used to wear my “corset” at night as well as I found it helped support me & a bra was too uncomfortable. luckily I had 2 extras from hosp as the ones that got a bit stained we asked to keep & after a wash they were fine. just try a bra when you feel ready to try & if it isn’t comfy go back to the corset. soft & stretchy & looser bras are best to start with - I bought some bra extenders to make them a bit looser to start with & that helped.

Thanks for the advice. I am trying an old camisole with internal support. Have been trying the fillet the hospital sent home with me but I feel like it’s rubbing and making me sore.

Will stick with the camisole on it’s own. (This is how I look now, you can like it or lump it)

I am so sorry your recon didnt take.

I was initially offered an instant recon but the surgeons couldnt get it together to arrange theatre time.

Just as well as I have been back for the 10 day results and they found cancer in 1 lymph node.

I am going back for more surgery this Tuesday, then I will also need chemo.

I’d love it if you kept in touch and we can compare notes.
