Wearing of soft prosthesis after surgery

I am 10 days post op and finally got to go out yesterday. However, when wearing my soft prosthesis i find that it sits very high, unlike my other natural side which droops a bit. I think it looks just as odd as not wearing it at all! I assume that when i get my silicone one it will look more realistic, but this looks silly with one in place and the fake one riding up almost under my chin! Anyone else had this problem please? I am only 40 and hoping for a break away with the kids in next couple of weeks, but dont want to walk around like this. At least if it were winter it would be easier with a coat on !

Afternoon Lolly

Hope you are feeling OK and not overdoing things.  I guess it is school holidays if you have children so hopefully things are a bit more relaxed than the usual school run.

It is a bit of a problem until you can get a gel prosthesis.  i wore a microfibre / moulded bra from Nurture (maternity range in Debenhams) which held things in a more even place.  I also have a Knitted Knocker( which has some weight in it)  My Sister knitted it for me.

Where i was treated i had to wait about a month before i had a appt with Prosthesis fitting Nurse but have had two gel ones to date due to weight loss and these have been great.

I know that Poemsgalore (Kath) has put the web address of Knitted Knockers on here but IT is not my forte.  I do know that the lovely ladies will knit to order no charge very quickly.  This might be an option and you can google them…

I had Mastectomy with expander June 2013 so last summer tended to wear T Shirts with small triangle scarf draped over right side.  I am now 14 months down the line and just had three days at Hoar Cross Hall and just swim etc without bothering and have attended Gym regularly for the last twelve months.  I don’t parade around but do manage.  Am going in tomorrow for expander exchange and left side reduction / uplift.  I will be glad to get that done.

Take Care of yourself Lolly.  Gilly x

Yes,mine was under my chin.Looked hysterical ,photos of me at that time were odd.Looked all boob, but better than being flat.I forever pulling my bras down. The silicone ones are much better.Don’t do what I did.First wore my silicone one under a sports bra,so heavy, that it ended up by my waist.I used to wear my softie under my swimming costume though.Be warned, don’t press on them to squeeze the water out.Looks a bit odd.
Had bilateral mastectomy by the way,at least I was even.
