We'd like to know your thoughts about email notifications

Hi everyone

I’m getting in touch following some feedback we have had from new forum users. We understand that some of you have felt overwhelmed by the number of instant email notifications you receive when you join the forum. We know some of you have manually changed your notifications settings but a lot are not so comfortable with it.

To help with this issue, we are thinking of changing the default setting to “Daily digest”, a daily email that summarises what you’ve missed. This change is only for email notifications. If you manually updated your notifications settings (to “never” or “weekly digest” for example), the “daily digest” change will not impact you and you will keep the settings that you manually selected.

Of course, you will still be able to change your notifications settings if you would like to receive more than one email notification per day.

I’ve been using the forums for well over a year and have never received a notification. I’ve just checked in settings and I must have ticked a box when I joined. It’s that simple, I don’t see what there is to change tbh.

Hi everyone,

The change to “daily digest” has been put in place and will only apply to people who had not manually changed their email notification settings. You will also see that the layout of the Daily digest is different than the layout of the Instant email notification, since it now lists all the notifications of the day.
