Hi all
I have a wedding to go to in three weeks time.
My hair is coming back (finished chemo 1st April), with a fair amount of grey in it!
I don’t know what to wear on my head. I have ditched the wig (too hot), don’t want to wear a scarf (again too hot) and do not like my ‘new look’ at the moment.
Have you looked at suburban turbans on line. They have some quite nice options. Hope you find something. I am supposed to be going to a wedding too. Not sure what to do about wonky boobs- oh the joys.dx
I would go along with the turban or styled scarf. Do you have enough hair yet to have a fringe underneath? I am going to a wedding too but i bought a new much lighter wig that is much shorter than my previous one
Hi Could you go for a much lighter less hot scarf, say silk, but put a stitch in the back to stop it slipping? I cut up a lightweight sarong and made scarves which were cooler.

Got the same problem only my step-daughter’s wedding is bank holiday weekend! May get one of those little feathery things to wear at my wedding but after everything in the last 10 months I’m really not fussed. The grey is now part of the new me (I’d rather refer to it as ‘platinum frosting’ however!! )I had last chemo 11th March - go on be brave, get yourself an outfit and glam yourself up - even now you probably look more gorgeous than you realise!!
Hi Naz,
Saw a girl this morning, don’t know if she has had chemo, but she looked fantastic, she had ‘very’ short hair, but had three different colours in it, nothing bright, just three sections of different colours, why not speak to your hairdresser to see what she can suggest?
Good Luck

Thanks Sandra
I will pay a trip to my hairdresser soon and see what she recommends.
I would love a colour or tint, but don’t want to jeopardise what hair i do have…
Gettidn used to the short hair a bit…been out and about scarfless and it does feel great i have to admit!
I found that when my hair was at your stage dying it made such a big difference. It grew in quite grey but when I dyed it it looked much thicker. I also wore chunky earings - first time ever and I really liked the look! Doesn’t it feel so good to be able to go out without something on your head, I remember it well.
Hi,
I dyed my hair during chemo as it grows while on cmf and dyed it staright sfterwards too. I was told no problem if I used organic hair dye. They used to sell a really good one in Sainsburys or if not health shops. I got my hairdresser to do it first time and she tested a tiny stick of hair where it would not show and has dyed many others’ hair after chemo with no problem. It really made me look like I had 3 times as much hair and she cut bits off to make a short pixie cut.I would also say go and see a hardresser they sort things like this out all the time. I meet a local group, who all have had bc and we all found that dying asap was the way to go to get a hair cut and not remnants of what was
By the way my very thin straight hair has come back much thicker and curly and the grey has gone back by about 7 years the hairdresser says, a welcome but unexpected result. It was straight at first,
Enjoy your wedding

Just a quickie - in another thread I said I coloured my hair fairly soon after chemo and it seems - fingers crossed! - to still be OK - ask about natural dyes. I’d also second the big earrings comment - I’d never worn them before but now you can’t get me out of them!!
I went to my nephew’s wedding in April when my hair had only just started growing, I had already decided I’d had enough of the wig. I bought a hat from M&S (£15-different colours available)which covered my whole head and it didn’t look as if I had no hair - people did get a shock when i took it off though!I had a great time. Have changed my profile photo to one of me in the hat!
3 months on my hair is still pretty short, especially at the front but it is quite curly, never had curls in my life! decided not to colour it as it HAS NOT COME BACK GREY!!! I’ll wait and see what happens as it grows.
Tomorrrow is my first appointment with the breast surgeon since surgery last July, hence my visit to this site today (for courage!) not looking forward to the mammogram as still pretty sore and tender. Can’t help but worry (a bit) that there may still be something lurking in there, hopefully not!!
Enjoy the wedding, hope the weather better than today - lashing down here in Plymouth!
I wore a simple fascinator to my son’s wedding, hair very short just started to grow back at the time. Be bold gal make a statement. S*D the lack of a full head of hair, no one thinks anything only you. You have had chemo and it’s a bitch. Why should you be ashamed. Please God I will never have chemo again but if I do I will say S*D it and get on with it, blow the hair!!!
Corsa
Thanks all
Still have not bought outfit…can’t decide what to wear !
Corsa, you are totally right of course…why should i be ashmamed…i guess it’s because i have never had short hair in my life, and loved my hair before it went…miss it terribly…never mind…
