Afternoon all, just wondered if anyone is suffering like me. Am about to have my 11 Pacli session on Wednesday and the effects of chemo appear to be getting worse. For the first few weeks, it seemed bearable, but now I am getting numbness in my toes and slight tingling. Luckily not affecting my walking, but nonetheless, not pleasant but also starting to feel quite nauseous.(issued drugs not helping) I also feel quite lethargic. Obviously I only have another five sessions to go but it’s all making me feel a bit rotten. Anyone else feeling the same? Can’t wait I to finish now as I am sure you all do - stay strong lovely people.
Hi @Denido im on the exact same as you, 5 weeks in as of today yay! Wow I love the pre-meds, they make me feel so great on the day of chemo but it’s a slow downhill struggle from tomorrow onwards lol I will most likely spend all of Friday in bed but I have a play date pencilled in on Saturday for my toddler and my friend’s baby shower on Sunday so I’m looking forward to the weekend! I think at 5 weeks I’m still fairly early in my treatment plan (hoping to be done with chemo by Dec fingers crossed!) but just trying to adapt to my new normal, though staying positive is really hard. Last week I was in bed for a full 3 days which wasn’t fun, and my nausea was awful last week. I was thinking of asking my care team for different anti sickness medication to see if anything else works better, has your care team suggested anything? My weeks with just paclitaxel seem to be a lot better so must be that carbo causing the nausea
have you found the same or is it bothering you every week? Hope you’re doing ok!! Always another week closer to the finish line ![]()
Hiya, I’m also on the same regime, along with Phesgo injections.
Just started cycle 2.
Last week I was awful but think a lot of it was to do with the heat. Definitely more lethargic.
I’m ok with sickness, the tablets seem to do the trick. Definitely reach out to your nurse or Oncologist if the anti-sickness meds aren’t working.
Hi.J, yes, I think it does get a little worse but you do seem to be suffering too. I am in awe of you managing with a little one, I am older than you and do not work so can take it easy when I need too. It seems we are correct in assuming that it is the carbo that is the culprit of nausea - I do not need to take any drugs after just pacli. Had to have a blood transfusion today as my heamoglobin was very low and extra CSf’s to increase my neutrophils (who know we would become au fair with all this jargon). I am told the transfusion will help me feel less tired so I am celebrating by cleaning the car (very rock and roll
). When I mention my nausea, they just tell me to take metaclopramide regularly but I don’t like those little beggars as they make me agitated and even less able to sleep at night. Have tried all the natural remedies and nothing helps so I am just ploughing through. I really hope you can have a good weekend with your little one and at the baby shower - I can thoroughly recommend Fevertree Mexican lime and soda as a fake alternative to G & T. Good luck beautiful, we women are strong
and we will get through this. Just keep looking forward to Christmas - much love and strength xx
Thank Florence, I was feeling really sorry for myself earlier this week but a blood transfusion and extra CFs seem to be doing the trick. I too suffered from the heat including swollen feet - I felt like my mother
. Sorry to everyone who has enjoyed the later Summer but I am much happier now it has cooled down. Just a warning to everyone, when they say take care in the sun, REALLY DO TAKE CARE…… I thought I had covered my arms up but apparently my shirt was not good enought and what I thought was a bad rash, turned out to be sunburn which took 4 weeks to calm down. So embarrassing as I am normally very careful in the sun. Stay strong, and look forward to when your “cocktails” as I call them are over. The light is at the end of the tunnel
. Love and positive thoughts to you and all of us xxx
