I’m starting this tomorrow for metastatic BC. Can find nothing on the secondary threads when searching. Can anyone advise how they are coping with it?
Hello. I was on weekly paclitaxel before my current chemo did stage 4 TNBC. I found it really easy on side effects. The one thing I would warn you about if you haven’t already heard about it, paclitaxel causes neuropathy n your fingers and toes. I was not aware of this or that you can get ice mitts that you wear during treatment which works similarly to cold capping and helps to avoid neuropathy. My fingers and toes are tingly and numbish and are not getting any better. I cold capped and kept almost all my hair on it. If there’s anything else you need to know please ask or message me.

I had 11 rounds of paclitaxel with carboplatin when I was first diagnosed with secondaries. The main side effect for me was fatigue, along with low blood counts, but I tolerated it pretty well. I did find the fatigue cumulative, but fresh air / short walks helped.

I’ve just started my weeklies for TNBC, pac every week and pembro/carbo/pac every three weeks.
You can get cold mitts and socks on amazon.
I have the suzzi mitts but I put them together in the chemo suite and I think the fiddling made them defrost quicker so I have put them together first and in the freezer so I can just slip them on to see if thats better. I have also bought a spare pair of ready made ones. Links below. You might find some on vinted as well.
Im also going to take them to the hospital in a cool box with ice blocks in rather than my insulated lunch bag.
