Can anyone help. I finished rads about 2 weeks ago and was given some gell to put on red bits of breast. It dried up sore bits on scar on my lymph area, but now nipple area is very open red and weepy. It dries up and scab forms then scabs fall off and area raw once more. Seeing onc next week but has anyone had experience of this? It is quite scary!
hi sounds like a skin infection to me (very common after rads) i would go and see your gp or practice nurse they will take a swab and prescribe antibiotics. The nipple is the boobs own way of getting rid of any yuk caused by radiotherapy, well thats what my oncologist said when i had a very large boil on my nipple after rads owww it hurt
Thanks for your reply Annamarie. I phoned Radiotherapy dept and they called me in and put a dressing on it. I need to keep it well moisturised and the nurse put lashings of gell on it. I had used it very sparingly and that did not help. I wish things were explained better. Hope you are now ok with no further problems.
