Weight Gain

HI,
I started taking Arimidex two months ago as I thought it might stop the weight gain I had suffered with Tamoxifen. Bad decision.
Can anyone advise me on the best diet while undergoing treatment?
We’re going on holiday in a couple of weeks and I’m dreading it as I have put on so much weight.
I’ve considered stopping taking the tablets but my husband wasn’t very happy about that.
If anyone has anything that’s worked for them I would really appreciate the help.
Warmest regards,
Gill

Hi Gill

I totally understand how you are feeling… i’ve also wanted to stop taking the tamoxofen. So if anyone has any weight loss tips, i’d also love to hear from you!

Take care

Hi,
I’ve been trying to understand how Arimidex works. If small amounts of oestrogen are produced by fat cells in post-menopause women then those with oestroden sensitive cancers take a tablet such as arimidex to block the hormone that releases the oestrogen that is found in the cells. The body then (craves?)accumulates fat around the abdomen to get it’s fix - so to speak. If I’m on track so far then what happens if you have a very low fat diet increase your exercise so the body has to use its spare stores that should get rid of the accumulation of fat. It sounds okay but we still need some oestrogen to protect our bones. Does anyone know if there are any naturally occuring oestrogens in fruits and vegetables? If there are and we take oestrogen in this form are we giving a potential future cancer another source???
Any comments,
