Hi everyone, I am wondering if anyone has used weight loss injections after treatment?.
I had right mastectomy with reconstruction followed by radiotherapy last year following my diagnosis of LBC with no lymph node involvement. I am currently on Letrozole and alandronic acid as was subsequently diagnosed with osteoporosis. Really struggling to lose weight which I know would greatly benefit me but not sure if it is safe to try injections. Any feedback woutbe greatly appreciated x
Dear ca,
So pleased to read you are doing well after treatment.
I’m not medically trained to give any advice, however you are taking quite lot of medication, I really think you should check out any weight loss meds with your cancer team or your GP
Wishing you lots of health and happiness going forward.
With love Tili
Hi ca55,
Thanks for posting.
Many people find their weight difficult to manage during cancer treatment. Hormone therapy can cause weight gain, this may be because you’re less active due to fatigue or joint pain, or because of appetite changes. Weight gain is also a common menopausal symptom. Feeling worried or stressed can also affect your appetite, causing you to eat more or less than usual. You may find our information on healthy eating after breast cancer a useful resource.
Being physically active can also help to manage the side effects of breast cancer treatment, including osteoporosis. Some hospitals have exercise programmes specifically for people who have had treatment for cancer. Your breast care nurse or treatment team would be able to let you know about any support hat may be available for you.
It is understandable you want to explore options to lose weight. As @Tili says, we would always suggest you speak with your GP or treatment team before taking any additional medications.
