Does anyone know if chemo is adjusted for weight? I’ve lost 4lbs in the last week - there is absolutely nothing in the world that I would willingly eat! I make myself eat cereal in the morning, and soup at some stage. Last night I had fish fingers (what excitement) and a piece of bread and butter. I managed to finish the fish fingers but couldn’t eat all the bread. My poor stomach is rumbling all the time but I have no desire to eat at all. Chemo sucks.
Alice how far into your treatment are you and what drugs are you having? We all struggle with food during the sicky bit on FEC and then with Tax it often leaves a horrid taste in the mouth. Ginger in some form seems to be the answer for most people and in my case I also rang the changes with citrus.
I did ask at pre-chemo appointment Cycle 2 whether they needed to weigh me/measure me again but they said not. (I lost a lot of weight during cycle 1 but put it on during subsequent cycles mainly cos I was too tired to exercise regularly) They later told me after a series of cycles when I had neutropenia so badly I had to postpone treatment that they would “tweak” the dosage and it wouldn’t make any difference. So if I were you I would ask the Onc at your next pre-chemo appointment.
Meanwhile we had a comfort food strand running on this forum last summer. If you’re interested: forum.breastcancercare.org.uk/t5/Chemotherapy/Nursery-or-Comfort-Food-and-Chemo/m-p/743403/highlight/true#M120577
