I’m a week after WLE and SN removal. Was feeling a bit of a fraud after reading other people’s problems, til I saw the cuts at dressing clinic yesterday, so I am being kinder to myself and have had a pyjama day. But I have got awful soreness and weird feelings under my arm. I thought it was plaster rash as I got the sticky off with surgical spirit. But I thought this would Only be painful after node clearance. I know my pain cannot be anywhere near something like that, this is just unexpected. No infection or anything and the area is still pretty numb but am I being a total wuss? Got to wait til next Wednesday for results to see if they got it all and the waiting is starting to get to me. Sorry for ramble
Hi Nenya You are not being ‘a total wuss’ at all I’ve had pain from the SN removal site too, worse than the WLE. I’ll be getting my results tomorrow and am getting a bit jittery about what the news might be, so understand that the waiting game is getting to you. xx
I’ll second that - boob pain settled quickly but axilla was swollen and much sorer. And that was even without a second incision since due to the position of my lump my surgeon was able to rummage around through the one wound to get to my nodes. Hopefully it will settle down and you get the all clear next week.
Be kind to yourself!

Thank you so much, I’m glad it’s not just me, that makes me feel better, I have been feeling ashamed because other people’s problems seem greater than mine, but then, the diagnosis is still the same, just in different degrees. Fingers crossed and hoping we have good news at our next appointments. <3 <3 <3
I like your rummaging description kittkat! That’s exactly what my surgeon did and I think that makes the pain worse as more tissue has been disturbed.
Hoping everyone gets good news like me, 19 mm inv lob removed, 28mm non inv ductal removed (which I didn’t know about) with safe margins. 3 nodes all clear. I had convinced myself for further surgery and hadn’t unpacked my bag. Oncologist meeting next tues to discuss radio and tablets. Muchly relieved. Thank you everyone for replying. It does make you feel so much better when you don’t feel alone xxxxxx
Great news, so no Chemo?
No thank goodness, herceptin neg so I have escaped that one
Brilliant news Nenya Hope some of the swelling and weird sensations are starting to calm down a bit now (took 3.5 weeks for my axillary bit to stop ‘twanging’ but it does eventually!)
xx
Sharon
Glad you had good news Nenya.
Elaine - I hope your results are also good

My underarm still feels sticky, I don’t think it really is, I’m thinking it’s just part of the general yukky feeling. I’ve tried medicated talc and it still feels the same x
I think all the tendons and nerves around the armpit take quite a while to fully settle down.
I have a bit of ‘cording’ (tight tendon) so hope to see a physiotherapist on Monday.
With regards to feeling sticky even though the skin is clean it might be a wierd sensation from the nerves having been cut or bashed about a bit. I had 8 nodes removed 22 years ago and my underarm (right side) had a numb/pins & needles feeling for years. Not uncomfortable, just weird. I’ve just had SN removed from my left side and after 3+ weeks I seem to have full feeling back.
But I’ve also noticed another symptom of the SN surgery in that after ( gentle! ;) ) excercise my right armpit smells clean sweaty but my left armpit smells like something has died under there!
