Hi ladies …i had to stop having chemo after 2 cycles because i couldn’t tolerate the side effects, i had 1 EC and 1 taxedoxal, my onc said that he would change my treatment plan around so i could have my mascetomy now instead so i went to see my breast surgeon for a pre op talk, she examined me and said that the 2 chemo treatments i had has actually worked on the cancer and was very pleased, she said that if she was seeing me for the first time she wouldn’t even suspect i had breast cancer (unlike the very first time she seen me) she said it was very good news, so i was very encouraged about this and feel so much better about it all now, i am to have my mascetomy on the 6th april, two weeks time, a bit scared but very happy to have the cancer removed out of my body, after surgery i will be on targeted therapy …pertuzumab and herceptin, i might have to have chemo after but onc will juggle the drugs around so it will be much kinder to me, i will also have radiotherapy too …does anyone know if i will have to have hormone tablets after as i am ER- ? also is pertuzumab given as an injection like herceptin?
@eeyore58 I have Phesgo which is a combination of pertuzamab and herceptin all in one injection. I have it every three weeks, and the nurse does it. I find that it stings a bit for the first 10 seconds and then that disappears. The nurse has to inject it slowly so it takes about 5 minutes and we usually have a good chat whilst she is doing that. It goes under the skin on my thigh and I don’t look! I don’t get any side effects with it.
Hope that helps.
