Hi - well, hard to believe that this time last year I was waiting to go for WLE and SNB and just beginning to get my head around what was happening. Have to say the last year has been a proper roller coaster of emotions. I’ve since had mastectomy, radiotherapy and currently on Anastrazole for the forseeable future. I’m well and life is pretty much back to normal. Didn’t think I’d be saying that 12 months ago! Cancer and hospital appointments don’t dominate our conversation anymore.
In a couple of weeks I have an appointment with the surgeon. In preparation, I’ve had a mammogram, which was all OK. So, what can I expect at this appointment. What will she want to know? Will she be interested in looking at scars? I’m supposing that this is the time she will suggest reconstructive surgery. Would like to know what happened with others. Thank you.
Hi DJD, I don’t come on here very much these days except when friends post on the chemo monthly thread I was part of, but I stumbled upon your post and saw no one had replied.
I saw my surgeon a year after my surgery which was mastectomy and immediate reconstruction. She basically examined me, asked me how I was doing and we discussed whether I wanted my implant changed as radiotherapy had hardened it and we weren’t sure if it was sitting quite right. She mentioned the mammogram that I’d had a couple of months previously which she has sent me a letter to say everything was normal anyway. Then because we decided I’d see how I feel about my implant, she made an appointment to see me in a years time (so basically in a few weeks)
I would imagine he or she will examine you and chat to you about reconstructive surgery and how you feel about it.
I’m on anastrozole same as you, generally getting on ok with it - general aches and stiffness which I find exercise relieves mostly :). Assuming I’m due to see the oncologist soon as I’m not aware she’s signed me off, but it’s been 8 mths!
Hope everything goes well for you xx
